As I reflect on the past 12 months of building a brand and facing the relentless challenges of assembling a team, streamlining operations, and navigating business development without external funding, I am reminded of the profound impact creativity wields when options seem scarce.
Embarking on this entrepreneurial journey means dealing with plenty of highs and lows, and my anchor and source of hope through it all is the force of creativity. Whenever I feel stuck, I do a little activity which I picked up from the Business Model Generation book. It's simple, list all the reasons why an idea might fail, embrace the constraints, and then flip it and look for all the gateways of successes. It's a mental exercise that turns challenges into opportunities.
1. Font and Font Pairing:
• A crucial mistake many startups make is choosing a random font for their logo without considering its alignment with the business type—be it corporate, culinary, or media.
• It's essential to explore perfect font pairings for your logo, considering your business type. Platforms like Canva, Fontpair, and Dribbble offer valuable assistance.2. Colour Scheme:
• Another common error is not coordinating appropriate color schemes or using too many colors for logos. The recommended maximum is three colors; anything more can be chaotic.
• Research the meanings of colors and identify which colors best suit your industry. Design tools like Photoshop and websites such as Design Wizard and Coolors can assist.
•Include your brand's colors consistently in all your marketing strategies.3. Association:
• Brand association is crucial. When marketing your brand, always link it to your company values and maintain consistency. Your brand's values should be evident in every ad, commercial, or post.4. Staying Up to Date:
